Fatal Fury City of the Wolves Undergoing Open Beta

After the second open beta held late last month, the fighting game community can’t seem to move on from Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Now, SNK has revealed character usage data from the beta — and it seems like the favorites are starting to emerge.

City of the Wolves is the latest game in the Fatal Fury series, coming after a wait of over 26 years. Its roster is a mix of legendary characters and new faces, with nine characters available to play in the second beta on roro4d online.

City of the Wolves brings nostalgia and a refreshment to Fatal Fury fans. With a unique roster and dual control system, the game is ready to welcome old and new players into a world of stylish and exciting fierce fighting.

Like many other modern fighting games, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves offers two control modes:

Arcade – for classic players who are used to full manual controls

Smart Style – for new players who want an easier experience with simplified controls

SNK also breaks down character usage data based on these two control modes.

Most Played Characters in Open Beta
When combined between Arcade and Smart Style control users, Tizoc is the top character. This pro wrestling-themed fighter is a favorite of many players, most likely due to the presence of new moves in this beta. He is also the only new character available in the second beta, which makes him even more interesting. His usage rate reached 15.4%.

In second place is Terry Bogard with 14.4%, the most iconic character from the Fatal Fury series. Followed by Rock Howard in third place with 14.3%.

In fourth place is Preecha, a new character who appeared in the first open beta. Her bright personality and unique fighting style have made her a favorite among the FGC community.

In contrast, the two least used characters are Kain and B. Jenet, with usage rates of 7.4% and 6.5%.

Difference in Favorite Characters Based on Control Mode
When the data is separated by control:

Arcade Style: Tizoc remains in first place, while Terry and Rock are tied for second and third.

Smart Style: Terry Bogard is the top choice, likely due to his simpler and more familiar playstyle, which is perfect for new players.

What Will Change When the Game Launches?
When Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves officially releases on April 24, 2025, it will feature 17 characters, including some surprising newcomers — even the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo. These additions are sure to change the dynamics of character selection, especially among competitive players.

The game’s first major competitive appearance will be at Evo 2025 in August. The tournament will be crucial in determining the direction of the meta going forward, especially for players using Arcade Style controls.

Previously, at Evo Japan 2025, there was a casual tournament featuring pro players with their entire rosters available. Terry and Salvatore were most often seen there as the tournament neared its final stages. However, it’s too early to say whether they’ll still dominate in the high-stakes tournaments to come.
