Prospective Indonesian National Team defender, Mees Hilgers, has a busy schedule in September 2024. Apart from competing in the Eredivisie, Mees and FC Twente will compete in the Europa League.

The first match in the Europa League is against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

That is why Mees received relief to complete the roro4d online naturalization process to become an Indonesian citizen.

To speed things up, the Indonesian government facilitated the swearing-in of the two players at the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague.

The reason is, their schedule is busy, especially Mees who has to compete in the Europa League, so it is not possible for him to go to Indonesia.

Before competing against MU, Mees strengthened Twente in the third match of the Eredivisie against Almere, a club strengthened by Indonesian national team midfielder, Thom Haye.

The naturalization program for hereditary players, which PSSI has recently been intensively implementing to strengthen the Indonesian national team, has received attention from the Dutch media.

Most recently, Mees Hilgers and Eliano Reijnders are the two names who will soon complete their naturalization process. Both of them will immediately take the oath of Indonesian citizenship before strengthening the Indonesian national team.

After these two names, there is another player who is said to be going through the same process soon. This was leaked by a number of sources in the Dutch media podcast, Voetbal Primeur.

“More and more famous footballers will choose international careers with the Indonesian National Team. “At the #DoneDeal event, Voetbal Primeur’s transfer podcast, several of them were also highlighted,” wrote Voetbal Primeur.

Voetbal Primeur Editor-in-Chief, Dennie van Laar, who was one of the sources in the podcast, brought up the name of a Dutch-born player who is said to soon undergo a naturalization process to defend the Indonesian national team.

The figure in question is former Ajax Amsterdam midfielder, Jairo Riedewald. Dennie explained that the midfielder, who is currently working in the Belgian League with Royal Antwerp, is getting closer to becoming an Indonesian citizen.

“I know that Jairo Riedewald, who currently plays with Royal Antwerp, is also in the process of naturalization,” said Dennie van Laar in the podcast.

“They’re really working on it. He is becoming more and more positive about it, and I think it will happen soon,” he added.

Not only because of its progress in recent years, but also because the Garuda Muda Team will be the host.

The plan is that Group F of the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification, which consists of Indonesia, Maldives, Timor Leste and Yemen, will be held in Jakarta.

There are two venues targeted by PSSI to hold the match. The two places are the Madya Stadium and the Gelora Bung Karno Big Stadium (SUGBK).
